Connells Relocation has been named “Relocation Services Provider of the Year”

image001
The announcement was received with the following notification…

“I just wanted to share the good news that Connells Relocation were delighted to be named as Relocation Services Provider of the Year at the prestigious Relocate awards in London last week.

We are thrilled by this recognition of our expertise and service provision in the field of Relocation and I just thought you might like to know you are working with an award winning supplier!”

…that last comment is referring to Clarks of course!!!

Our understanding of the new regulation charges are as follows however, please seek advice professional from your EPC provider too.

The regulations surrounding EPC’s has changed again! Guidance has been issued by the Department of Communities & Local Government, it is not definitive, final details are still to be confirmed but we have put together this guidance for our users to ensure that you are aware of the new regulations.

Full details can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/improving-the-energy-efficiency-of-our-buildings

Key Changes
You no longer need to attach the front page of the EPC to your property details. Instead, the EPC rating must be displayed in all advertisements, there is no requirement to use the full EPC, just the graph will do. However, if space is limited, such as in newspaper advertisements then you should include the actual EPC rating, for example D.

In other words, you can just include the EPC rating in your advertising text by manually adding the value at the end of your description, so it is visible in all your press advertising.

An exception to this regulation is listed buildings no longer require an EPC unless they are involved in a green deal arrangement.

The specification has been in development for a decade and now all the features that have been planned for it are in it! There’s still some fine tuning (bug fixing in other words) to do but HTML5 will be the power behind the next generation of websites, smartphone apps and online video.

HTML5 lets developers deliver in-browser experiences that previously required standalone apps or software like Flash or Silverlight. Clarks have been ahead of the game and already use it to power their image processing module. It supports touch screen, offline tools, video and geolocation services, amongst other things.

Most of the main browsers already support most of the HTML5 features including the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari are already compatible with most HTML5 elements.

App developers have followed suit. The Financial Times abandoned its smartphone app last year in favor of an HTML5 mobile website. The site looks and works like an app but with the advantage that the Financial Times doesn’t have to make multiple changes to all the multiple smartphone platforms. It also means the Financial Times doesn’t have to Apple for in-app purchases.

Here at Clarks, we’ve embraced the new standard, if you’d like to know more about how it will effect your business and way of working, give us a call.

These glorious insults are from an era before the English language got boiled down to four letter words.

The exchange between Churchill & Lady Astor:
She said, “If you were my husband I’d give you poison.”
He said, “If you were my wife, I’d drink it.”

A member of Parliament to Disraeli: “Sir, you will either die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease.”
“That depends, Sir,” said Disraeli, “whether I embrace your policies or your mistress.”

Have a great Christmas and new year from all of us at Clarks.

As with everything we do, there were no fireworks or fanfares, just a solid robust system delivered to the first user, a lettings agent in Surrey.  They love it!

ClarksCloud Property Basic is a new generation of online estate agency software from one of the oldest most well established property software houses in the UK (that’s us by the way).

It handles residential sales, residential lettings and commercial properties.

This first release is the simple “property only” entry system which we’ve been developing over the past three years.  It uses the most up-to-date development techniques to bring a whole new user interface and includes our new picture upload tool which is proving very popular.

It will be followed in the next few months by the CRM version (customer relationship management) which has all the applicant and vendor facilities you’s expect and much much more… start getting excited.

Have a look at some screen shots and a few of the facilities at ClarksCloud Property Basic

According to Rightmove the percentage of property searches made on mobile devices such as phones and tablets continues to rise at an incredible rate. Their figures state that 33% of all property searches are now made using a mobile device.

If your website doesn’t have a mobile friendly version, perhaps now’s the time to get that sorted! You can always speak to us, we’ve produced a huge number of mobile device friendly websites for our clients. Have a look at MOBILE WEBSITES and give us a call to discuss prices 01344 867170

In Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
‘House’ for instance, is feminine: ‘la casa.’

‘Pencil,’ however, is masculine: ‘el lapiz.’

So what gender is ‘computer’?’

Instead of giving you the answer, I ask you to consider the following before you make up your mind.

The case for it to be Masculine (‘el computador’), is:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can’t think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and….
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The case for a ‘computer’ to be of the feminine gender (‘la computadora’), is:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and…
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your salary on accessories for it.

Over the past 10 years the Commercial Property World has gone through something of a revolution as far as IT is concerned. In view of that any software package has either had to change with the times or become redundant fairly quickly. From a fairly simple database in the early days, Clarks have developed COBoss into fully functioning “must have” tool for Commercial Surveyors and Commercial Agents such as us. The links with our web site and others such as EG Property Link, have helped reduce the irritating “multiple entry” issues associated with other less user friendly packages. We would now be lost without COBoss.
